Raine, Craig Anthony

(1944- )

   Born in Bishop Auckland, Durham, he read English at Exeter College, Oxford. He has lectured at Exeter College, Lincoln College, Oxford, and Christ Church, Oxford, and has been a fellow of New College, Oxford, since 1991. He has been book editor for New Review and Quarto, poetry editor at the New Statesman, poetry editor at the London publishers Faber and Faber since 1981, and is founder and editor of the literary magazine Areté. He has won four major literary awards. A Martian Sends a Postcard Home (1979) instigated the "Martian School" of poetry. He lives in Oxford. Some of his other publications: The Onion, Memory, 1978.
